Mushroom Maraca
The Shipibo-Conibo nation dwells in the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Peru, and is well-known for their ancestral plant medicine and Ayahuasca rituals, but also for their traditional embroidery, jewelry and pottery. The designs and patterns they use, called KENE, represent the inner energy of all living beings, and are a reflection of their visions during their sacred rituals.
Hand-carved and crafted by the indigenous women of the Shipibo-Conibo tribe, the mushroom maraca is used by the Shipibo Shamans to channel the energy of the natural world in order to heal and protect the attendees of spiritual rituals. Made from traditional wingo fruit (Crescentia cujete), a wooden handle of the Chonta Tree (Bactris gasipaes), sacred seeds of the achira plant (Canna indica) and small bird feathers, each maraca is a unique piece of spiritual art.
